Bio:
I was born in Anderson, Indiana. While growing up, my family moved around a lot. A lot! After doing all that, we finally settled here in Dalton, Georgia, The Carpet Capital of the Freakin' Known Universe. I hold degrees in English from both Dalton State College and the Unversity of Georgia, at Athens. A few years ago, I was lucky enough to serve as an editor for a literary journal, the same journal in which I had a collection of poetry and short fiction published. I will soon be applying to graduate school for Creative Writing. Other than that, life right now is rather uneventful; that is, of course, until I hit the record button in Garageband. Then things really brighten up. Music is the one friend who has always returned my calls, returned my letters, the one friend who has put up with me the longest. And from the looks of all the talented musicians submitting to this website, I would imagine that many others could testify to that, as well.

Music Background
I began playing guitar at age 14; piano, at 15. Like most young guitarists back then, I cut my teeth on heavy metal (had the long hair, too). Then in '92, an acquaintance lent to me a Bob James/Earl Klugh CD. Needless to say, that changed how I looked at music or moreover how I thought music could be. So I abandoned the metal thing and took up jazz full-time. Nothing has changed since. Soon realizing that jazz was nowhere near as easy to play as metal, I began taking formal lessons. That really paid off creatively and opened many doors. No, I did not study at Berklee or at any of those great schools. I did, however, discover the music of Pat Metheny while still in my teens. To this day, I am grateful that I was able to discover his music at such an impressionable moment in my life. With that, I guess it is safe to say that Metheny and a handful of other down-to-earth musicians like him have served as my music teachers and mentors.
