Bio:
Kharismatic is changing the sound of Sacramento Music. With highly percussive tracks laced with melodic grooves to sooth the savage beast, yet grimey enough for the hardest of Hip-Hop heads.
Kharismatic originally hails from The BK (Brooklyn, NY). Growing up in Crown Heights, a neighborhood consisting of primarily West Indians & Jews, shaped his ear for music. Walking down the street, he would be influenced by Roti shop owners playing Dub & Reggae music as well as hearing jewish cantors from outside the Synagogues on Eastern Parkway. At home, he was fed a steady diet of West Indian culture and Motown. His father also opened him up to the world outside of Soul music, with artists like The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and The Eagles. But it was the streets (and his oldest sister) that sparked his love & passion for Hip-Hop.
When he was 14, his mother relocated him to the SF Bay Area where he discovered his passion for playing music, self-teaching himself how to play the piano, drums, guitar, bass, flute, and vibraphones. Also at this time, his high school teacher would let him experiment with his Korg DSS-1 keyboard, learning the rigors of sampling. He also learned how to DJ. He was starting to build up his arsenal of weapons.
After high school, Kharismatic went to Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga. He was fascinated with the unique sound of Southern Funk and Bass Music. This was a pivitol point in his life, opting to pursue music rather than academics. Subsequently, he flunked out of school, but opted to stay in Atlanta another year.
Kharismatic returned to California and moved to Sacramento, where he hooked up with former D.R.S. member Lamarr 'Deuce' Lubin. Deuce taught him the ins and outs of the music biz. Kharismatic began cultivating his production skills, through rigorous recording sessions. Over the years, Kharismatic has had numerous setbacks, but he always seem to land back on his feet.
In 2006, tired of waiting on a production/record deal, Kharismatic formed GForce 1 Music, a production company/indie label. He is currently working on debut albums from Cinnadivine, Da Prince, as well as his own Quincy Jones/Dr. Dre style album. 2007 is the year of GForce 1 Music & Kharismatic!
