Dr. Lioli returned with his latest invention - the "Q-37 Low-Orbit Particle Meson Accelerator Laser Cannon Remodulation Satellite Platform System' (LOPMAL-CARSAPS), designed to home in and eradicate MacJammer Profiles forever. Determined to wipe MacJams out of existence and replace it with a theme park dedicated to polka karioke for evil scientists to vacation in, Dr. Lioli created the Q-37 LOPMAL-CARSAP to use high-energy Plutons to accelerate a single musical loop to the speed of light and collide it with the electronic profiles of MacJams citizens.
But the MacJams Central Intelligence Agency found out that the nefarious Loop at the heart of Dr. Lioli's infernal machine is Walking Clav 01, from Apple GarageBand. But a weakness in Lioli's plans was discovered - if the Loop were actually combined with musical talent and creativity and then beamed back to the station.... then the Q-37 LOPMAL-CARSAP would short out, implode and fall into an alternate universe forever, taking Dr. Lioli with it.
So the call went out to the brave musicians of MacJams to create a piece of music from Walking Clav 01 and save the fair city from Dr. Lioli once and for all. 29 MacJammers answered with an amazing array of entries, all of which are listed below.
Special thanks to Ed "Slo-Parts" Wemmerus, who put together a killer audio track for the intro video - and the third. Also, big thanks to all the MacJammers who have cared for and carried Loop It Or Lose It to so many different and unexpected places - Chikoppi for creating the whole idea and setting the basic rules that keep it fresh, and Bud and SmokeyVW for the rescue and ensuring that LIOLI would go on to become the wonderful grassroots challenge that it is. Perhaps most of all, though, the biggest note of appreciation goes to the many MacJammers who consistently come up with amazing, sometimes stunning pieces of music woven out of the fragments tossed into the ring during these challenges. Take a bow, everyone - with seven LIOLI challenges behind us, it's been a wild ride.
This, by the way, is my last run at hosting a Loop It Or Lose It. Not that I haven't enjoyed the trip - it's a riot - but after two rounds, I think it's time for someone else to add their own unique angle and ideas to what is truly a grassroots festival owned by us all, and take Loop It Or Lose It in a direction as yet unimagined.
All righty then.... check out these amazing songs, and raise a toast to the demise of Dr. Lioli!
