I'm a female software engineer currently on a sabbatical. One of the many things I'm endeavouring to do during my break from working is to reconnect with my creativity (music, writing, art, ...) & this is what brings me here.

Music Background I grew up in a very musical family of classical orientation, though at the time preferred electronic and popular sounds. As a child I learnt piano (and to lesser extent some other classical instruments) and later studied music in university. That was a long time ago, more years than I care to admit! I've not done a lot with music since, just dabbled now and again. I'm not a dedicated musician like a lot of people are on here. My interest in composing comes and goes. I haven't composed for several years but, having reached a temporary lull in my previously hectic working life I feel like trying my hand at it again. I love listening to the ambient & new age genres. I'm wondering if I could create these types of music to a quality that satisfied me. I may also try my hand at other genres as the creative urge takes me. All of my music will almost certainly be instrumental because my singing voice is not good! I'm fascinated by relatively unusual scales such as the spanish gypsy so I'll almost certainly be experimenting with these. The word 'experiment' describes exactly where I am at right now in pursuing this.

Music Skills Piano, keyboard, fluent with musical notation, good knowledge of music theory.

Music Hardware Keyboard: Yamaha PSR-630

Music Software Currently investigating the best choice for this.
