Bio:
I played in bands as a teen into my 20s. Then I went to Film School. Never stopped playing music through the years. Then, one day I found Sound Track in amongst my Final Cut Pro software and I started digitising and re-mastering old bits of recordings. Then I figured out how to record stuff in Garageband and then export racks individually for Sound Track Pro mixes, and that's how I got back into the full swing of recording music. I was a 3 year denizen of the iCompositions community. I guess I was a long-stayer but not exactly a heavy-hitter. I liked it there a lot because there were always many knowledgeable and talented people you could bounce ideas off, and the forum conversations were good. I was however *over* the ratings system as well as some of the artists whose works were just questionable - but nobody questioned them. So I decided to gradually move away. The Big Crash has made me re-think that process. This place is really different in its attitudes and tastes, and so I see it as an interesting alternative. Plus I donated a chunk of change for the iComp folks so I'm a little invested in that site again. You'll notice I disable ratings. This is because I don't believe in numerical ratings of any kind on what is essentially a subjective, qualitative communication art-form. I prefer my numbers in sabermetrics. I also hate the Oscars and competitions. But that's just me. As Matt Granz says, deal with it. I know I do, and I sure spend a lot more time with me than you. :)

Music Background
I prefer music in the foreground. :)
Okay... I'm self-taught. My primary school music teacher was a Juliard grad who beat the love of musical notation out of me. I loved music, but HATED her, so my compromise was to go play Rock. I'm partisan about rock, and its promise of low-threshold of entry.
Music Skills
Not a whole lot.
Music Hardware
Some guitars. A bass guitar. A cheesy little Roland Keyboard controller. A Roland USB interface thing-a-midgy.
Music Software
Garageband & Soundtrack Pro.
