Bio:
Find this artist in drop-down: I was reminded that I needed to update my information. I'm sort of doing that by removing the old information and placing something here that will act as a sort of place holder until I come back and put in new information. Though I may just wait until I see what capabilities MJ 2.0 has. Of course, I wonder how many people actually read the information in a profile, though I guess at least one person recently read mine and noticed I was still talking about 2007. And, oddly enough, I haven't had much problem this year writing 2007 instead of 2008. I usually remember, but, you know you slip up every once in a while. But, honestly, I don't have a lot of opportunities where I actually have to write the date. I barely write checks any more and I don't have to "write" much by hand, period. It's kind of sad when you think about it. Less and less, it seems, do we still write by hand. I can't remember the last time I wrote more than a sentence by hand. Everything is done on the computer now. I used to write out lyrics, stories and such by hand, but, I knew eventually, I'd have to go back and type them into the computer anyway, so I eventually just switched over completely. When I worked at the newspaper, I did a lot of writing by hand. I took painstakingly detailed notes. Of course, my handwriting is so poor, pretty much no one else could read my notes. Sometimes even I couldn't read my notes. I had the same problem in college. I'd take copious amounts of notes and half the time, when it came time to start studying for exams, when I went back I could read what I had written. Eventually, I pretty much got to the point where, if I had written it down, I could remember it. That way, all I'd have to do is get enough from what I had written to jog my memories and it would all come back to me. Not that I really spent a lot of time studying. I found early on that I could pretty much be a decent student without trying too hard. Not really the best thing to discover when you're already predisposed to being lazy. Actually, lazy isn't fair. I'm not lazy, I'm just selective in what I put time and effort into. I was considered "lazy" growing up because some of the things I was asked to put my time, effort and energy into I felt were just kind of silly. I guess I was pretty much a nonconformist from an early age because I would refuse to do things I didn't see the logic in doing. There were always rules and rituals and just a little bit of everything that have never made much sense. I didn't like the idea of living a life that I was "expected" to live. It all seemed way too boring. And what was the use of living if I was just going along some predetermined path set out by a society I had no interest in really being a part of. I'm not a sheep or part of a herd of cattle. I believe in individuality. It's more interesting than just going along with the crowd and being another mindless clone, unable to think for themselves. People being told by the media and the internet what to think, what to believe, what to watch on TV, what to listen to. Cookie cutter beliefs, fads, etc. just aren't very interesting. They're keyed to the lowest common denominator. Too many things are over simplified or dumbed down to appeal to the masses. TV, for the most part, is truly a wasteland of reused and recycled ideas that weren't that great in the first place. Popular culture is only popular because there are enough mindless automatons out there who like what they're told to make it so... But I digress... Like I said, once I have time, I'll put something relevant here. This is my "studio." ![]() Here's a photo of my guitar "collection." (If, indeed two guitars and two basses can be called a collection.) ![]() And, for no reason whatsoever, here's a photo of my dog. ![]() Collabs: Neon and the Night and It's All Over Now The Dixie Mason Band (me and R.T.
