Biography
MAINTAIN has crafted infectious songs with great hooks and harmonies and their musicianship is way above the norm.
MAINTAIN, LA/San Fernando Valley’s most original soul/funk band, releases their first full-length record “Soul Music” on their own Enfield Records label late 2007.
This highly anticipated album features 11 tracks including 9 original songs, 1 instrumental and 1 cover of the Isley Brothers “Climbin Up The Ladder”. "The album is titled “Soul Music” because we feel it’s the phrase that best encompasses our music,” says guitarist/vocalist Jason Gutierrez. The MAINTAIN expression of “Soul Music” is more in-tune with the organic roots of the original genre which covers a very broad range of soulful, rhythmic and poetic music. The MAINTAIN sound is a breath of fresh air in a scene filled with "neo-soul" bands who seem to be copying a certain sound & production style that has become very formulaic. The songs MAINTAIN have created have blossomed over the years without any pre-conceived concepts or formulas. This is a real band, that has been together for 7 years, expressing themselves the only way they know how: they write and play what they know and feel. The self-produced album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jason Gutierrez at his Enfield Studios in Reseda CA.
