Bio:
All my life I wanted to sing, starting off in the bathroom (where I'd sing a whole Eddie Fisher repertoire), while unknown to me all the neighbours would be listening from their back gardens. It was only after a couple of years that one of them told me. I began to mime to records ( making comedy) in social clubs at the age of eighteen and had quite a following for very many years, but a singer one night asked if I could sing. I said I could try, so we sang together quite regularly on stage. At the time every club only had a pianist and some were better than others. So many times I witnessed the singer stamping the boards to quicken the tempo, only to be followed by the pianist playing a few bum chords so that the singer sounded flat. Some of the pianists played bum chords and didn't know the difference LOL making the singer sound out of tune and that's when I bought a cheap guitar. No bum chords for me thank you! LOL. I left home and went to a coastal town, Southport, where I was both married and eventually divorced, but I kept the two kids a step son and my own boy. It wasn't easy holding a job and keeping a home going but I did it. Playing night clubs ( I was resident at one for 10 years) on my own and also as part of a duo or trio. It was ideal and fitted in nicely so I could keep the home going and see to the boys. I also travelled as part of a duo all over the North West of England and a few other places. until 85' when the eldest left home and the youngest left for college. I moved back To Wigan at the age of **, to old for everything at that time thanks to a Thatcher Government, whose policy was to keep jobs at a minimum ( yet there were jobs for the boys). I have always been an artist; painting originally in oils before moving on to Pastels, specialising in Portraits, but I love Landscape, Still life and all subjects. I've recently begun to paint in Watercolour, but one has to find their own technique with that particular medium. Think I've found it now though. I also have moments when I write Poetry, but not so often these days. Writing more though now I'm writing songs. I kept on singing and playing my guitar (only as accompaniment as I'm no great guitarist). Then at my great age, my son bought me a computer which I hated it at first. Didn't know a thing about them and still don't know a lot, but I get by. While visiting him in London last November he showed me this music program on his Laptop called Garageband and I couldn't leave it alone. This last Christmas he got me the Mac OSX which came with GB of course and then I got a midi M-Audio having never played keyboards before. I went on line and looked up some chords and the next thing I find MJ and here I am. I never dreamed I'd be making music and singing and would be heard all over the world (like us all here of course) especially at my age. Pity all this stuff wasn't available when I was younger and had a decent singing voice though. They say time is a healer... it is, but not when your a singer LOL. Nevertheless, I'm thrilled to be part of this community and love all the variety and I hope to continue making some contributions. Find this artist in drop-down:
