Brass player since 1982. Bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. Taught elementary general music, elementary chorus, beginner, intermediate and varsity band, high school music appreciation, and Spanish. Don't ask about the Spanish. Auditioned for and won a place in a competitive women's barbershop quartet (tenor), used to play Easter and Christmas gigs (not anymore). Former assistant choir director for a Methodist church (don't ask about that, either). When I was in 3rd grade, I used to pay a kid on the bus a quarter to let me look at his piano book. When I get my law degree, I'm suing him for my quarters back.

To get the Bachelor's degree at USM, we had to demonstrate proficiency in brass, woodwinds, percussion, piano, strings, and voice, among other things. Does that mean you want to listen to me play strings? Depends. Are you a masochist? I have really tiny hands and short arms, so I'm not so hot at stringed instruments or the trombone (I can't reach 7th position without a trigger).
