Lap Steel or Rhodes Players For Collab?
Thursday, August 14 2008 @ 10:24 AM CDT

Hey hey. I'm thinking of adding some lap steel to one of my songs and was wondering if there's anyone here who plays? Also, if anyone can play a bluesy style Rhodes solo let me know if you might be interested. I just started on piano and I'm just not there yet as far as soloing goes.

I'm probably not good enough to play for you yet since I have had my lap steel for only two weeks but I just had to say how much fun they are. I got a Rogue lap steel online for only $68. Yeah I know, I couldn't believe you could get anything decent for that price either but it was so cheap I took a chance. Well I have been pleasantly surprised! Sure for that price there are things you can criticize but overall it is a great little guitar that sounds good as long as you keep it below about the fifteenth fret and tons of fun to play. There are even three little legs that screw in the bottom of the guitar that can be adjusted up and down so you don't have to play it in your lap if you don't want to.
As in most cheap guitars the worst thing about it is the tuners. I had to tighten a few of them up and even then they are a little loose so it is hard to get a precise tune. Not impossible - just time consuming. If I got someone to replace the tuners and do a setup for me it would be a hell of a nice guitar and far better than $68.
