MJ Grand Ole Opry Challenge
Tuesday, June 17 2008 @ 07:23 PM CDT

Well boys and girls,

It seems that those other Challenges are going off the boil and it's time for Dolly's Grand Ole Opry MJ Challenge.

I've booked the stage at the Ryman for the first two weeks in July.

Country music of all kinds welcome. As many tunes as you want. As straight or as bent as you want.

Make Dolly happy.

See you there,
D

I am not going to re upload this tune. But I would like to make this available for people to hear.

I think it has the flavor of the Old Time Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Smile

It's called:
The Ballad of Jim and Betty

Do I note some trepidation?

C'mon boys and girls - send me a note or leave a post here when you've got your song ready.

Challenge starts July 1st

I have a song about 38% done.
I listened to my favourite George Jones CD for inspiration last night (the Mercury Years).
Looking forward to this one, I expect many MacJammers will rise to the occasion with entertaining results.

No tredidipititiation here - just taking a breather. I'm going to try and put something together for this Challenge, no question - I've got a sweet spot in my heart for old-school country (Ernest Tubb and His Texas Troubadors, Charley Pride - and MARVIN RAINWATER!!!!)

Been listening to my Stompin' Tom Conners tunes to get mentally revved up for this one. Gotta get to it an' at it, as Bud The Spud would say on a Sudbury Saturday Night!

I'll try not to let you down, Dolly. Can't disappoint a lady from the South!
