Yes, the Golden Age is over.... for some.

For some it is ongoing... and yet others, just beginning.

Pitch your tent...

Great choice Benny.

I ve been around for a while ...not too long though
I knew and ve been learnt that this place is like
islands ..if one get less active there will be others
giving the light ...no matter what the music came from
or what style it is ...everybody here just so giving and
so true ... !

but ye ...every month we got elite people .. ;-)

maybe we need to start to do that ..to let some
newbies to be in light each month !!!

love you all !!!!

I too miss folks like Lisa, Dave, Steve, CJ, Tom & Bob. Who knows? They may each return at some point...

In the meantime, since my own return, I am noticing much talented new blood here, and I sense a SECOND "golden age" in the making.

All I know is that I have to work a hell of a lot harder to sound half as good as many of the folks here, and I think that is very GOOD for everyone!

No friend, the "golden age" isn't over. We're experiencing a changing of the guard.

Just one man's opinion...

Be well all!

Agreed about the changing of the guard Mike - but you have to ask "where the old guard have gone and why" I think. Some of the troll activity in the past 2 years has had an impact I suspect, along with the endless debates about ratings. Some people are not well, and others have become active on other sites.

One of the reasons I set up the MJ Reunion Festival was to try to attract some of the earlier MJers back (and hopefully for them to stay "back" for a while). A lot came out of the woodwork, stayed a little while and then went back to the woodwork again. Some returned and have renewed their levels of activity.

Maybe they have found a better option, maybe life has overtaken music, maybe we all need a new deodorant - who knows.

I'm finding I simply don't have the energy any more to write and record new stuff, collaborate as widely as I want to AND keep up with the new music by new members here. I certainly don't spend anywhere near as much time here as I used to (although MJ is till my Safari home page, so I may appear to be here a lot more than I am), and so some of the new people have kind of missed my attention.

I think MJ will continue to provide a valuable forum for online musicians, and you really have to hand it to Simon and Miguel for hanging in there with MJ through all the hassles, changes and challenges.

It's still a great place to hang out.

Now, back to whatever you were doing.
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

I'm getting better!

But seriously, I have been less than active (bordering on MIA) for a while now, and that's been due to a combination of factors, none of which is dissatisfaction with MacJams! Work looms large, for a start. I also committed to something in my community that is taking a lot of time, and on top of all that, I have been traveling. But things are calming down now a tad.

Also, it seems like songs have been taking their time to come to fruition for me these past few weeks. Having said that, I have been able to get some stuff down recently, and I may even have something to post soon. I just follow the wave.

I think Bud summarizes it nicely. People come and go, work (and 'stuff') pulls you away, and sometimes even a creative trough can distract. Either way, this place is da bomb, and there are always people (new and old) around here making the place golden. And, Dave, you are most definitely one of those people!

Here's to being around more often!

Peace.

The Golden Age was when they penned The United States Constitution, and then, The Bill of Rights; It's been an uphill battle against liberal socialism and fascist control ever since.
