Any other jam packs?
Saturday, April 09 2011 @ 10:08 AM CDT

I have heard some songs done on GarageBand but with software instruments I have never heard before, like some synthesizers, a muted trumpet, different trombones, etc.

Besides the apple and Ben Boldt ones, are there any other jam packs I can find online?

you can find lots of free EXS24 instruments online. they are meant to use with Logic, but you can also use them in GB if you load the files correctly:
to use EXS instruments in GB:

you can also find loads of free samples online for just about anything and then turn it into your own instrument.
to create your own instruments in GB:

here's a TON of free instruments. the Kontakt player, Kore and Sampletank all have a lot of instruments you will maybe like and you don't have to go through the trouble of setting up sampler instruments. There are also a lot of soundfonts in there which are free (including an entire orchestra). :

happy digging; I find a certain perverse pleasure in finding (legal) free instruments and effects.

There are LOTS of options to add instruments to GarageBand... there are tons of free soundfonts and also high-quality commercial soundfonts available for use.

There are also many free AU (Audio Unit) plugin instrument banks — Free KORE Player, Crystal, Yellow Tools Independence Free, UVI Workstation, etc.

There are also lots of commercial add-on instruments available — Native Instruments, IK Multimedia's SampleTank (There is a nice free version available), etc.

You can also consult MacJammer michael2's MacJams Forums resource for many freebie finds — M2's Freebies

Good luck! Wink

the only software I've ever paid for is drums on demand last December

that may change it's easier to have a softsynth delivered to computer than to have more hardware delivered to the door for my wife to say "don't you have enough!" lol

like people said there's a ton of free stuff online I have a bunch I've never even used for whatever reason. well I'm more of a hardware guy so there ya go.

got my 7 year old a first act drum kit it's in my studio lol she plays it better than I do
