Which Jam Pack should I buy next?
Monday, November 21 2011 @ 09:14 PM CST

I own the Orchestra one and I'm not sure where to go next. I don't use loops so those don't matter to me so much, just the instruments. The World pack only has 40 instruments, that didn't seem like a lot, but if they are awesome I'd consider it. Then there's Remix and Rhythm. Probably not interested in Voices. Suggestions?

i use the world pack a lot and I don't play world music. some good instruments. if you do electronic stuff the remix pack is nice as well. voices is only pulled out for experimental purposes (I will tweak them into different sounds or chop them up). I should actually listen to your music before giving advice huh?

Hi Erin: it's all very subjective of course, but I think you might really like the World Music JP. It's the one I got after the Symphony Orchestra JP, and found lots of cool instruments and sounds to use.

Or, you can just resign yourself now that you'll probably want them all, and stop trying to choose Big Grin

I would definitely recommend the World instruments. Here's a couple of examples of things made ONLY with the World jampack:

I bought the Orchestra and World Jam Pack at the time and was very happy with both of them for a long time. The links below may give you an idea of the libraries - erhu, flute, vocals and percussion are from the World JP, and the rest of the instruments are from the other Jam Packs.
"World of Wonder"
"Journey Within"
The only Jam Pack I found weak was 'Voices'. Your computer probably came with JP 1 already installed, so after 'Orchestra', 'World' would give you a pretty complete basic setup.

Don't forget, if your thinking of moving to logic studio, all 6 jam packs are included.

I know who I am and you know who you are, but who and the hell do they think they are?

And besides logic studio it applies to Final cut as well including older versions. You can often find these older versions on craigslist for $50 or so. That means you get the entire loop setup for that price. Just make sure that what you're buying is legit and not a burned copy some a-hole is trying to sell you.

Thank you EVERYONE for your comments! Wow. Now I know what I will ask Santa for this Christmas. Logic sounds like a good bargain to complete all the Jam Packs but I just don't have time to learn it; it intimidates me! Thanks again everyone!

It may be intimidating but it's also liberating. SO much more flexible and capable and a bargain when you throw in all that content. At it's most basic it's not that much more complicated than GB, but you have a lot more room to grow into.
