Error Code 39.....help please.

Hi..This has probably come up a lot but I keep getting "Error Code 39 - was returned by the audio driver"...vocals are not playing and it keeps popping up...I'm using Garageband '11 version 6.05...help please!!!!

it might be a good idea to check that your disk drive isn't failing.

in Finder: Go > Utilities > Disk Utility

run Verify Disk Permissions and Verify Disk

that probably won't fix the damaged file, but it could warn you that you need to replace your drive...

you do have backups, right? maybe Time Machine would let you retrieve an earlier version of the recording that is not corrupted

Error Code 39.... *shudder*

I got this a couple of years back.
My hard drive failed the next day.
Lost all my work, and the few tracks that I had copies of I couldn't publish anywhere because if there was any claim on them, I wouldn't have the original project files as proof of originality.

Out of interest, is it a western digital drive? I've had too many WDs fail on me to count. I always go with Seagate these days - never had a single issue with them.
