That's because ducker is a new effect not available in Logic yet, probably will be added in an update.

Remeber that GB exports using default outputs 1&2, you may have to re-assign I/O once you open the GB song in Logic.

Cool

There is a work around.

1. I created a new song (midi only, so not sure if this fix will work on audio, but it probably will) in GB3, which I just installed. None of the tracks were locked. (This may not matter, but just to let you know the state of the band file.)
2. I was able to play the song through core audio and my audio device and listen.
2. I loaded the band file into Logic Pro 7.1. I got the ducker warning you saw.
3. Played it in Logic Pro. No audio out.
4. I looked at the arrange window while it was playing - nothing was getting to the Output 1-2 track.
5. I opened up the Environment Window and noticed that all of my midi tracks were outputting to busses 21 and 22 - I don't have these buses defined.
6. For each track I redirected the output from "bus 21-22" to "output 1-2".
7. Audio out worked fine.

Putting on my software engineering hat, I'm guessing GB3 by default implements the ducker as a stereo bus device like it does the master track and Logic assigns this "unknown" to a pair of unused buses. This is an interoperability bug between the two programs, but at least in this instance, recoverable - unless of course one was using the ducker in GB3 - that information is not being used by Logic.

Hi. So the thing is you attempted to open a songfile from GB3 into Logic? Correct? No one mentioned they were doing that or even trying. Am I correct with that assumption? If so it might be best for all to actually be a bit more detail oriented.Help can come much faster to the needy if details such as theese are not omitted. Just a kind of rule of thumb thing perhaps we should all consider. Maybe then we can help each other in a more streamlined way.I had no idea what the original post meant. Now it is easy to understand. Ducker plug-in campatibility with GB3 will be part of next upgrade to Logic.

GarageBand 3 compatibility
Logic Pro 7.2 ensures compatibility with Garageband 3 sessions by providing the following new features.

Playback of compressed files
Logic Pro 7.2 allows you to play back AAC and Apple Lossless files directly — with no need for conversion. This feature ensures session compatibility with Garageband 3 and can be utilized to reduce drive load or facilitate collaboration when project files are shared over the Internet.

Ducking plug-in
Ducker offers easy-to-use ducking functionality on Output or Bus tracks.

Speech enhancement plug-in
Speech Enhancer provides a simple option for cleaning up and enhancing recordings made with the built-in microphones.

New royalty-free jingles and sound effects Apple Loops
Logic Pro 7.2 includes the same Jingles and Sound Effects library that ship with iLife ’06. A dedicated Effects button in the Loop Browser makes it easy to view and filter this new collection of sounds. The library includes more than 200 Sound Effects and 100 Jingles.

Hmm, so to get Logic to work seamlessly with GB3 files, you need to spend another $49 for basically the same stuff you just paid $79 for in iLife '06. Eek!

I guess that's the Logic of living the iLife, eh? Rolling Eyes

F**king hell...

I just got Logic for Christmas, an I was planning on getting iLife '06 next week...

Now I'm not too sure... I guess I can just keep GB2 and not upgrade to GB3 instead of droppin ANOTHER $50 on a Logic upgrade...
