End of an Era
Wednesday, December 05 2007 @ 09:39 AM CST

Well, I sold my Marshall 30th Anniversary amp yesterday, severing the last link I had to my gigging days. I did it for a good cause though, turning the money I made from the sale into parts for the recording equipment I'm building. A bittersweet feeling, to be sure.

like losing an old friend ..i know! Take care Mason, the old boy is just giving someone else some pleasure.

I have finally figured this out but now I have forgotten what to use it for.

Be strong, Mason... I still occasionally pine for a couple of big Acoustic amps I got rid of years ago.

This should make your neighbors happy though. Wink

i sold my favorite amp about 2 years ago, and it felt like i just got a divorce. right now i'm debating selling a Fender Rhodes I have that is a collectors item (it's basically gathering dust), thinking of buying a new computer and recording gear. but i am bothered by this thought that the rhodes will always be great, while the computer will only last a couple of years.

suppose i could take the money and get the house painted.

the good news is that the end of an era marks the beginning of a new one... I transitioned from live artist to recording guy over a span of time... but I have to say.. I find writing and recording so satisfying
... and there is none of the frustration of keeping the live gig thing happening.. logistics and relationships, ect.

enjoy... kick but

couldn't agree more. i write a lot of stuff and i always ended up being the guy who was "taking over the band." now i'm just the guy who asks dumb computer questions.

I've considered selling my Boogie for one of these lighter amps that sound so nice...but haven't pulled the plug, yet.

I'm sure you know what you're doing. Besides: your amps that you build sound great, anyway.

Its better that you sold it on - rather than take it apart with a kitchen knife to try and mend it - instead of a proper set of screwdrivers whereby you realise your mistake and then wonder why you didnt just sell it on..or take it to someone who knows what to do.

Then again its better to sell something on instead of trying to survive on coffee whitener till the end of the year.well.sometimes.

nothing much of any note

umm... there was nothing wrong with it, and even if there was, I would have easily been able to fix it. I've built 3 amps from the ground up.
