Drak video - Honey and Owls
Sunday, October 18 2009 @ 07:08 AM CDT
We toured a honey-processing farm in Oregon, while on our way up to Eugene in June 2009. The owner showed us around the hives, the honey and wax processing machines, and we got to taste pure raw honey. As an added bonus at the end of the tour, Erica, also an ornithologist, showed us some baby screech-owls in a nearby nest.
Music, "Let it Bee" (my wife came up with the name this time) was written in about 2 hours, probably the shortest time I've ever tried to write something... it probably shows :-) The video took about a month of spare-time editing to put together. I hope you enjoy this little tour off the beaten path. As always, if you have any thoughts, suggestions, things you liked/disliked, please let me know here, so I can improve my movies! ttfn, Drakonis |

Sweet! (smirk)
A question: why is it there are no bee larvae in the mix? A comment: Good thing nobody got their face pecked at the top of the ladder!!!

Nice! Really enjoyed. Though I'm not a lover of honey!
It's about time I changed this... |

It is so interesting to me to share your family trips. My wife and I go on little adventures like this all the time. We just went to a sheepdog competition outside of Charlottesville NC. Your filming is very informative and captures the essence of the adventure. My only comments would be the audio quality is a bit low (which is really hard inside a factory, I know) and the low light shots (like the inside of the machine) didn't come off well (maybe use a lens hood to force metering on the subject??). Your films are all enjoyable and always have good technical elements as far as composition an camera handling.
I would love to see more Schwan family adventures. Stephen |

Maybe, in future, you could mic the people talking? Then, the dialogue would be clearer.
So generous of you to post a complete presentation for those not lucky enough to experience these things first hand. Enjoyed watching and learning. Quite an acrobat there: Climbing, Peeking and Videographing! Impressive. Thanks, Eduard. Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. Abraham Lincoln |

Don't care how well your video was put together and how convincing it appears to be, I'm not believing that honey really comes from bees, Drak! Maple doesn't just drip from trees and glue doesn't come from horses either! My mind won't do that! Amazing how pure and naturally sweet nature presents some of her finest products. And the whole deal looked to be like its a fairly straight forward process, too!
More edumacation... You are a born teacher, Sir! Always something interesting to learn when I run across your works! Great stuff! Now, was Sarah in there anywhere? Not much longer and you'll have to put up w/ me in person! I'm still excited! Thanks for sharing, Sir! Dion Just do it like it ain't been done before! |
