Tube Preamp

I just completed building this. Sounds great to my untrained ears. Hopefully I will be able to share the sonic results here soon.

I actually have about 120+ images that I took during the course of building it. I'm thinking of putting together a detailed build log if anyone is interested in reading it.

Way cool Mason. Not sure what it sounds like but all your DIY gear has a great pro look to it.

It's a universe I'll never be familiar with though, I can barely solder a simple guitar repair!

Looking forward to hearing it. Perhaps a baseline sound is in order so we can compare and hear the full effect of that preamp in action.

Thanks Pete. I put a lot of time and effort into designing both the layouts of the circuits and the exterior cosmetics. I'm trying to move towards a sort of "universal" design concept so both my recording equipment and amplifiers have a similar look.

We (Tiny Man Inside) are in the midst of working on a couple new songs that have made extensive use of this piece of gear. So you'll hear it in action at some point... [we're damn slow though, so don't expect anything soon

I'll probably do some demo recordings comparing this preamp with some of my other commercial preamps so you can get a sense of how it differs in sound. It definitely has a different sound than my commercial preamps. This is extremely detailed, almost to the point that it is unforgiving... you can hear every little mistake in your performance just as well as you can hear everything that you played well. Better practice up on my guitar playing, which isn't too good these days :-(.
