Quick Feedback Please? (CFG)
Wednesday, July 11 2012 @ 11:29 AM CDT

Hi, y'all! I know it's been a while since you guys have heard from me. It's been really busy ever since I left for college. (Plus for the longest time, my microphone was packed at home rather than with me in the dorms. Now it's with me in my new apartment!)

So I've been trying to get back in the music groove lately, but something just isn't quite clicking. Most of the time I'd just take a break for a day or two, and then come back to it if I feel the song is worth pursuing.

However, this song is different.

a) I've been in the process of making it since spring break, so it's definitely more of a special one in that case. I don't tend to go back and work on old songs or pursue them for that long.

b) This is actually a special song I'm writing for my boyfriend with whom I'm in a serious relationship with. I love him so much, so I wanted to make him a song. Especially since I know he's impressed by my music skills and would be most likely flattered if I made him a song.

c) I kind of have a deadline... Friday July 20th. This is because we'll be celebrating our 6 month anniversary then. So I thought this would be a nice thing to do for the occasion. Plus, 6 months is a big deal for me.

I've pretty much got the song almost done. However, I'm having a hard time getting to the "finished" point of the song. And, I still don't have a name for it, even months later...

If, even after that long summary, you wouldn't mind giving it a listen and replying to this post with feedback, that would be amazing! I would appreciate it so much!!! And if you could spread the word to more MacJammers, that would be awesome! The more feedback, the better! I want this song to be perfect when I give it to my boyfriend. He means so much to me, so I want to show it through a well-made song. I need help to do that.

Thank You!
Jess <3

PS Hope all you MacJammers are doing well since I last talked to you! I miss you guys!

One tip to give it a name: "I'll be loving you"

I love the song but I had hard to hear what you sing in some part, so try to lift your vocals up a bit.

Nice song, and entirely you.

The accompaniment stays a bit low key. Start adding some more drums, maybe more synths here and there. Build it up.

One other thing, I think you use too much reverb, not sure but it sounds like that.

Anyway I see, Vic is helping you and then you're in good hands, be well Smile

Very nice song, I like the little guitar solo thing too. I might suggest taking most of the reverb off your voice and putting it onto the kick drum instead... and also adding a little more harmonized vox here and there. The reverb on your voice makes the words harder to understand, so maybe reducing the reverb would help, but boosting your vox in the mix would help too. Remember this is a song where you are giving the gift of your voice to him, so... LET HIM HEAR YOU! :-)

Also, the intro was a little long before you started singing... maybe start the first 4 bars with minimal stuff, then add more on the 2nd 4 bars, then launch into singing.

Just my thought.

this is a great song! keep on perfecting it!

i think the vocals need to be cleared up - i would bump up the higher frequencies using EQ so they are crisp and up front. the vocals at the very end sound sort of like what i think it should sound like throughout, if that helps.

technical issue:
there are two places where there is a huge low frequency reverb going on - and it's cool - but since it only shows up in two places and nowhere else, it sounds wrong to me. first time is from 1:10 to 1:35 or so - and again at 2:34 to 3:02 - it does happen a little at 3:30 to the end too, but it's not as pronounced.

keep up the good work
