Kill a tree, read a book
Tuesday, August 14 2012 @ 12:31 PM CDT
There's nothing like a dirty newspaper or smelly old book. Proposed: KILL A TREE, SAVE A BOOK
Between the covers, stories lie that once were music for our eyes. Now below what once was fold, what once was read's now mostly scrolled. Now what lies between the sheets for breathless hearts with breathless beats no longer touches our affairs; the news is written in the air Without carbon, ink or smudges, polar Huffingtons and Drudges spin our daily history... but whence the objectivity? Carbon saved and carbon burned; few trees felled for pennies earned. We can't turn back the pages lost nor calculate the future cost. In this alleged utopia with vast unchecked myopia, one thing can't be overlooked: The pleasures of an opened book They say the 'Net can save our trees, but doesn't it burn electricity? Putting that aside, tell me: How will you wipe if paper dies? Long Live SloParts. |

Succinctly put Bob.
I agree wholeheartedly. I have books here that are over 100 years old and still work perfectly. Love them Cheers Dick Hanging in with the out crowd (All rights reserved) |

When you consider something like a square mile of trees went into every edition of the Sunday Times, maybe the trade off ain't so bad.
24. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1924. That means it only took 50 years for men to realize that their brain is also important. |
