Stereo Micing Techniques
Monday, July 02 2012 @ 06:12 AM CDT

Now I know some of you will probably hammer me for spelling it "micing"...it could be written as "miking" or "mic'ing",..... but what the heck that's a debate for another day! Anyway, I wrote up a tutorial that is split into two parts, on the different arrays and techniques that can be used for stereo recording. It's quite fun to experiment with the different methods, and can yield very different results depending on what method is used, so if amyone is interested to do a bit of reading on the subject, part 1 covers X-Y, ORTF,NOS,DIN and spaced pair methods, while part 2 covers mid-side (M/S), blumlein Pair and Decca Tree arrays.

thanks for this. I have never tried this at all (don't have any "pairs" of mics. planning on getting a set (or at least another 57) so that I can try this out. have you ever used these techniques on anything other than guitars?
