I feel like I've barely been here for at least the past six months to a year. It has nothing to do with things there on MJ. In the past yearI've gotten remarried, learned the fun of raising a teen-age daughter, written a book and started two others (whether I ever publish them is another story) and been dealing with lots of financial ups and downs(anyone need a Mac programmer? My wife desperately wants something other than a wage-slave job.)

I also have seen my music output hit rock bottom. I've posted just four new tunes so far this year and don't really see that changing any time soon. I used to be able to put a song together in days at the most, some time in hours. Now it takes me weeks with 15 minutes snatched from here and 30 minutes snatched from there. It's hard to get a real flow going. And I haven't really hit anyone up for a collar in a while because I just never know if or when I'll be able to work on something.

But things here at least to me, have been fine. Every time I log in there's plenty of good music to listen to. I still have been downloading tons of music. I don't have as much time to comment because I do a lot more listening at work now than at home. I've discovered a lot of cool new artists and tried my best to keep tabs on the rest of the old crew who have stuck around.

Hopefully things will pick up. I'm looking forward to the Woodstock challenge and would love to do another CDBG challenge as well. Or any other like we've done in the past - LOLI, Halloween, Christmas, Live Aid, hell, even an It's Tuesday challenge, everybody just writing and posting a song because it's Tuesday, would be fun.

But, if you think about it, MacJams isn't too far away from it's 10th birthday. A year and a half or so. That's like dog years. It's ancient for a website. especially a site like this. How many have come and gone just since MJ has been around?

As for the other stuff, when I first started here, I was very anxious for feedback, but now, I'm just doing this for fun. If people listen and comment, great. I'm happy. If people don't listen and comment. Great. I'm just as happy. I want people to listen and I hope they like what I do, but I'm doing it for me, not for them. And since my time and ability to comment is so limited, I pretty much just save it for when I really have something to say and, most likely, that something is going to be along the lines of "That's awesome, dude."

But, if things get too quiet around here for everyone, maybe we can just get the admins to rewrite the terms and conditions again. That'd be like poking a fire ant mound with a stick. Big Grin

I think we should have a forum post to song submission ratio requirement - ha ha ha. The forum posts spiked much higher than the song submissions in July. If everyone (myself included) posted a new song for every 20 forum comments - we'd have more songs and better thought out discussions.
Or - we'd have a lot more really crappy songs. Smile

I am hoping the Woodstock/Glastonbury challenge will bump up the number of songs for August.

THREE WEEKS OF PEACE & MUSIC

August 10 through August 31, 2012

so-called rules:

Make your entry be something like a song that might have been heard at the

1969 Woodstock Music Festival
or the
1970 Glastonbury Festival

style-wise, or simply in-the-spirit of it.

There will be no voting, no winner.
The point is to challenge ourselves, share our efforts, and enjoy the results!

Collaborations are encouraged, but not necessary.
Multiple entries welcome!

Include "woodstock 2012" or "glastonbury 2012" in your song title.

...my brother from another mother ... well said indeed.... looking forward to the Festival.

I have finally figured this out but now I have forgotten what to use it for.

Did anyone else notice that the graph running from 2004 to 2012 peaked at the 2008 election and went down from there....Strange.

just glad to be here...
