Barrett 1970 LP
Saturday, June 23 2012 @ 07:13 PM CDT

There are no words to explain what this is, for context purposes... Pink Floyd had not crossed over
into the mass audience, can you hear him shine?
Best of luck.

i think heard this somewhere long ago in a friend's apartment where there were lots of people i didn't know but they were having fun and doing things i didn't understand and i had fun looking through the bottom of a beer bottle and things kind of flowed around corners into other rooms where several other people i didn't know were laughing and i just settled in talking to Jeannie about how time is a strange abstraction until we all got called over to the hall where someone (Freddy?) was running down the hall until we realized it was time to find the guy with pizza or maybe it was a baggie when my buddy showed up and we put on a new record that i never heard before and it was something way out there mixing up my thoughts - or perhaps she said it was time to go so we went off walking trying to find the right street where the car was but we ended up at Joe's and after a while it was dawn and it ended. brutal ending. but this music was embedded in my mind - only to burst out right now in a monster flashback

err... this was fun to hear again i think

thanks

although I am not one of those "pink floyd sucked once Gilmour joined" guys, syd is one of my hero's for sure. pop sensibilities, fashion sense, psychedelia, insanity, drugs... he had it all in spades.

Excellent post. Still in heavy rotation. Syd...

More educational material. Same warnings as usual.

Not to change the subject - just to further the investigation. No Syd connection - but unique to the time and place. Significantly darker tone.

http://www.sydbarrett.net/welcome.htm

You can go to the above site for righteous details.
Much of what is in the media about Barrett is incorrect.
I asked earlier, about the shining. Barrett sees, he has vision.
As you evaluate these records, his work on the first two Floyd Lps and
especially the singles the band released with Barrett as primary creative
force, this is the overwhelming message... vision.
He sees, and he tells you, the best he can. Barrett is honest even when he lies.
