Pablatone
Sunday, July 15 2012 @ 12:53 PM CDT
I'm not around here much anymore, and when I do drop by my email is usually pretty full of things from fav'd artists that I haven't gotten to listen to. I then do my level best to catch up...
Over the past month or more, I've been struck by the fact that pablatone/Paul is quietly and prolifically filling his MacJams page with great songs. When I try to catch up, he's got six or eight new ones. More to the point, they are all really good songs, with really nice acoustic playing, strong lead and harmony vocals, and well recorded into the bargain. Most important to me is that they display really solid song craft. Tight lyrics, good melodies. And though they share a 'sound', they are certainly varied. As is sometimes the case with prolific writers who post frequently, I don't think the community at large has completely caught up with Paul's latest offerings, and so I post this here in hopes that more people will revisit his page and listen to the last few months of his work. http://www.macjams.com/artist/pablatone "We have to remember...when it's surrender that's called for, it's not surrender of your brains. I'll go a little further and say that I doubt that Paul and I agree about much in the religion and politics department, but I respect him for his skills as songwriter and musician, and I also respect what comes across as his humility and respect for others.
His most recent posts seem to be from a children's music project that is Christian in bent, but if that's not your bag, go back a month and check out some of his 'band' songs. I'll wager somewhere you're going to find a clutch of songs you'll love... "We have to remember...when it's surrender that's called for, it's not surrender of your brains. It's surrender of your ego.
