Eat a Peach!
Thursday, September 20 2012 @ 09:49 AM CDT

This performance was filmed 42 years ago this week. The Brother's Band set the standard for improv. Duane was not 25 years old when this was recorded. What is most humbling about the ABB is that their level of musicianship was the one folks that bought a ticket expected at every venue. Once the ABB was mainstreamed music marketing changed dramatically, at least until the circus like performances of Kiss and the Big Hair bands of the late 70's and 80s were successful with a very different audience.

This is what I so loved about these guys, their extended and very cool instrumentals. Dickey Betts and Duane, together, were an amazing pair of lead guitarists... every note played with purpose.

Thanks, Daug, for this remembrance... with 'Elizabeth Reed'.

If I could play one note as good as Duane I'd be happy!
