Rock & Roll pioneer Chuck Berry has died at the age of 90 after lifesaving measures failed during a medical emergency at his home.

Many say that the Rock & Roll era began with this man. And maybe it can be said it has ended with his death today at age 90...

I saw him in a London club called The Speakeasy in 1971 or 1972.

The club was a hangout for musicians and the only reason I got in was that my girlfriend's best friend was going out with a guy who was a session guitarist at the time and went on to play with Noel Redding.

Marc Bolan was sitting on a table in front of us and I swear I took a piss next to Keith Richards.

Berry was actually a little disappointing. I don't know why but his pickup band weren't on it at all.

Not that it bothered me that much as I was seeing one of my heroes up close and in the flesh Smile

The last part of the evening got a little hazy and I swore I'd never drink Southern Comfort again (and never did!)
