Coming to theatres this spring

A long time ago, in a recording studio far, far away . . .

GUITAR WARS
Chapter 11, A New Note:
A small band of rock 'n' rollers has just stolen the plans to the Death AU, a processor powerful enough to destroy an entire symphony.
Princess Layla races across space with the stolen plans, pursued by the sinister Pie Vader, Lord of the Synth, who is eager to recover the plans for the evil Philharmonic.
Princess Layla only has time to record a short message before jettisoning the plans in a pair of droids.
"Help me, Obi-wan Clapnobi. You're my only hope."

Starring:
Fairy Beth as Princess Layla
Dadal as Yodel
AC Clarke as Lute Skywalker
alanfraser as C3Dim
Uncle Samwich as Crewman #7
Skipper's IPod as R2D2
Mungo as Billy the Mountain
Slimmie as the slave girl dancer
RS as Aunt Beru
Mystified as the modern major general
Eric Clapton as Obi-wan Clapnobi
Pie as Pie Vader (actually, he's just in the suit, somebody else is the voice)
And, as Han Soloist: Your friendly, neighbourhood snowdragon

Lord I was born a ramblin' man . . . .

LMAO! Very pleased at getting a lead role, but maybe it should be Princess La-La?!

Clapton

We may make 200 posts anywayz!!

"Layla was, for me, the last time everything -- the singing, songwriting and guitar playing -- were all at the same high intensity level. It's Clapton's most original interpretation of the blues, because the hellhounds on his trail had a face: unrequited love. But Clapton's guitar playing is still terrific. The thing is, he had seven years of the most extraordinary, historic guitar playing ever -- and thirty-five years of doing good work. Being the best has got to wear you out. So he pulled back, like Dylan and Lennon did. The sprint is cool -- the marathon is better. Clapton has followed in the footsteps of his mentors: He's become a journeyman.

Anyone who plays lead guitar owes him a debt of gratitude. He wrote the fundamental language, the binary code, that everyone uses to this day in every form of popular music.

The day may come, if you're a young rocker, when you'll hear one of Clapton's mellow, contemporary ballads on the radio and think, "What's the big deal?"

Put on "Steppin' Out." And bow down."

(From RS 972, April 21, 2005)

-Quote taken from the RS article. And its the Damn truth.

However, I don't agree with RS in their choice for "Greatest Guitar player of all time" (Jimi Hendrix)... They didn't even mention Satch or Vai or Di Meola....

But RS is just trendy (they always have been).... Much like todays music Biz...its not about the music anymore. So you should be thankful for what you got "back in the day".... right???

Eric Clapton is indeed IMMORTAL (as seen on the RS cover with Frank Zappa). As well as others who will be "immortal" soon-and yes I know Santana is on the same list (I think STING missed out).... do you think the RS writers ran out of ideas and started spyin' on our pointless forum rants?

and Apparently its being turned into a movie? Wink

Ronnie, baby, didn't know you were available. Last I heard you were tied up with Duane Eddy meets Godzilla.

Here's the deal. Had to recast R2D2. The iPod threw a hissy-fit when we cast Skipper as Mama Cass and walked.

So, if you fit in the tin can, job's yours.

Cool to see Bill Nelson get a mention.

Bill's great isn't he? We could devote an entire forum to him. Unfortunately he seems to be a bit of a forgotton figure here in Britain now. I am too young to have seen Be Bop Deluxe when they were around at the time -bet they were impressive though judging by the live tracks I have heard. Like Hendrix jamming with Ziggy era Bowie.

Bill Nelson is appearing at the Brighton Festival in May with John Foxx, Jah Wobble, Brian Eno, Michael Nyman and others as part of Harold Budd's farewell concert.

Might I suggest that if Ronnie can't fit into the "can" that he appear as "ET" doing a guest spot in the alien bar scene. ET (Ronnie) provides the live rock entertainment along with Alan (Jabba the Hut) Fraser playing an updated hard rock version of Telstar.
