Surprised you even know who John Petrucci is PIE.....

I'm gonna see him (again) on the new G3 tour....with Satch and Vai...you wanna take any shots at them for NO GOOD REASON???

Nice to see blah blah blah as your comeback.... that tells me ya really know what your talkin about Wink....hahahahahahahahahahahaha....

Can't even finish off the argument YOU started eh???

You must have finally realized that you have no Credit on the subject. Bravo.

I have all the credit (if you wanna use that term) i need on this subject. Just as much (if not more) than yourself and I didn't start a fight... I expressed an opinion and was curious as to other peoples opinion. If I remember correctly you agreed with me. Eric Clapton is no god. That's what YOU said, isn't it?

looks like this thing is gonna hit 200 after all Smile

Yeah PIE, I KNOW I agreed with your point that EC is no GOD.... but my point was you were not looking for opinions... you were LOOKING FOR A FIGHT.

And you sure as hell don't have "all the credit" on this subject...

I think you just got a bone to pick with Mr. Clapton.... who could OUTPLAY YOU and ANYONE HERE ANYDAY.

So you see why your initial post was pointless.

but we can all play the game if you want:

Now if you want to talk about sorry excuses for Guitar GODs....why don't we talk about Jimi Hendrix?? Aren't you tired of hearing his name mentioned "by people who know nothing about guitar in discussions".....

I mean if we are going to contiue a poinless rant we might as well do it Right.

Get ready for 200!

Dear RonnieLong,
Smile

whilst I am no big fan of Jimmy Handrix, and do find his name being thrown foward repeatedly as The Guitar God (although perhaps because i'm in the UK I do tend to hear the name Eric Clapton put forward quite a bit - Jeez I've even had to endure candidates such as Mark Knopfler and The Edge for goodness sake) I can appreciate his contribution the 'Guitar World' and how he helped shape it.

a) I was looking for some animated discussion, not a fight.
b) I said "I have all the credit I need" not I have all the credit
c) So what if EC can 'outplay' me... doesn't mean he can't be overated by others Smile

So, is the Cream Reunion

  • A desperate atttempt by three old men to relive their glory years?

  • A desperate attempt by three old men to squeeze out the last drop of their exhausted creative juices?

  • A desparate attempt by some big conglomerates to extract disposable income from 50 year old air guitar players?

  • A sincere, heart-felt swan song by three old men who are close to knocking on heaven's door?

I thought I'd try and help liven up the conversation.

Anybody see Slash doing the anthems at Bosox-Jays game last night? He did them a la Hendrix and I rather enjoyed them. He took off his hat for O Canada. Nice touch.

Last night, as I was cleaning some carbon scoring off one of the droids, I must have inadvertently triggered something because a holo-message suddenly appeared.

In it, an aging knight-errant sat atop a magnificent steed, flanked by a rather foppish, portly, balding, squire, who gazed up adoringly at the knight. The light faded as a single spotlight illuminated the pair. As fanfare of horns erupted, the knight unsheathed a black Stratocaster and began to sing:

"I am I, Er-ic Clap-ton, the lord of La Mancha
"My destiny calls and I goooooo
"But the wild winds of Lay-la, shall car-ry me onward
"Or wither wherever Cream blows
"Wither wherever Cream blows
"Onward to Crossroads I goooooooo"

And then, in a squeaky voice, the squire sang:

"I-I-I-I-I'm Pie-o, yes I-I-I'm Pie-o,
"I follow my mas-ter, til the end.
"I-I-I'll, tell all the world, proudly
"I'm his squire, I'm his friend."

There was something about heathens and wizards and debauchery, but it broke up.

And like I said before Pie, I agree that these git slingers are not Gods....but they DO give to the world of Guitar (more than you ever will)....that is the point you seem to miss...

I'm glad you agree that Hendrix is no Guitar God...

Was this discussion "animated" enough for ya??

Hahahahahahahahaha....

Who is YOUR guitar/music God Pie???
