I wonder if it has anything to do with the capacity of the inbox, and sent files. I never delete anything and I am getting the disappearing icon too.

On your own page, Andy? You know, I'm just glad I asked. Now, I know that I'm not the only one, have an explanation for it and a couple solutions. Eduard's page is a bear! Lots of bells and whistles.

I just tested it on FF 3.6.12 and it still seems to work. I'll have to look at the code, but there is something in there that makes the disappearing envelope voluntary. And... what makes it disappear (if turned on) is if a user shows up to a profile page and is not logged in. If someone is seeing something differently, please let me know.
As a side note, the envelope may disappear for a moment, but reappear once the page is loaded. This part is important, because if someone has loaded up their page with tons of videos and stuff that makes it take forever to load, the envelope will not appear until all has completed. I said don't disturb me when I'm cleaning my room! |

Just tested in Windows 7 (IE9 Beta). Still works as expected. (Un)Fortunately, I do not have IE6, 7, or 8 to test.

Lastly, I'm not downplaying anyone's concerns with it. I'll look at the code (hopefully) within a few days to see the best way to fix it.

I looked at just about everyone's artist page in this thread and I was unable to reproduce the problem. On some pages I had to wait a good long time for photos to download and script to run, but the envelope always showed. I am on IE7.
