Someone just posted this on my Facebook. I watched and felt quite deeply disturbed. watch this and post your first reaction. It might be interesting. For some reason my first thoughts were of "Terminator"?

It is all about expectation and then, frustration. I remember my grand daughter taking the remote (Not a universal one.) from one TV into the room with another TV, expecting it to work. I had to go up to a TV and turn a knob when I was a kid. I may have expected the enormous radio my grand mother had to show me a moving picture when it turned on. I loved this video for the illustration and the best part was her testing her finger on her leg. Thanks.

yeah, that's a bit disturbing to me.

I tried reading a book on my computer. Once. It's just not the same, and I had a headache after a couple of chapters. Call me old fashioned, but printed books will be the way for me in my brief life. After a full day of working on a computer, the last thing I want to do when I kick back to relax and read a book before sleep time is to stare into yet another electronic device's glowing screen to read.

more old fashioned stuff: Raising my children, the book was a fascinating thing, a time to share stories and pictures and a device for the kids to go back through on their own and look forward to mom or dad's reading and interaction on subsequent nights. They were lined up or stacked on the book shelf; different sizes, colors and shapes to pick from.

I agree 100%. I think it's great to see how much technology has to offer today, but I'd rather pick up whichever improves my quality of life. Sometimes simple things are the best.

I don't read too much into this video. I think it is an interesting study in learned behavior and compelling interface. The only worrisome thing here is that perhaps these parent aren't reading as many books to the child which is definitely a problem. We have a house full of children's books (as well as tons (well, maybe a ton) of other books).

When our boys were younger we ALWAYS had story time before bedtime where we would read out loud to them. (my favorite was when our younger guy was old enough, I read the entire Hobbit to him over a period of several weeks).

Both of our kids are now accomplished musicians, honor students and athletes. I attribute a big part of their academic success to early-and-often reading. I'm always amazed when I walk into other parents houses to find them devoid of books.

Anyway, the one HUGE advantage to reading on the iPad compared to the print version of all those fashion mags is the complete lack of stinky perfume adds!

Exactly my thought ..its the parents responsibility to
create the healthy sphere around the kid and provide
the kid with what his/her age allow .

Intelligent e media in the hands of intelligent parents no problem at all, they know where the balence and priorities lie. Intelligent e media in the hands of stupid parents, ( and boy I see a lot around our city) then you have a problem.
