Re:Fed Mob
Tuesday, August 14 2012 @ 12:50 PM CDT
“Ike” Eisenhower warned the country, in January of 1961, about a new and dangerous threat from the inside, which he dubbed the Military-Industrial Complex. Being a 5-star General himself, as well as a politician, he understood that this thing had no military justification even though it would of course insist that it was protecting America from its enemies, real or imagined. He warned that only “an alert and knowledgeable citizenry” could defend against it. His warnings of course fell on deaf ears.
Today, the web will tell us that the Defense Department issued new contracts today, just for its own department, in the amount of $216,902,691.00. Up 105% from yesterday. Just for Department of Defense, excluding ... Homeland Security (sic), Department of Energy (sic) and so on. In short, exactly as Ike Eisenhower predicted. The Roman Empire collapsed from within for much the same reason. The military apparatchik built roads to nowhere and sent legions on them in pursuit of non-existent enemies because there was money to be made in building roads and equipping legions to travel them, even if they had no military purpose for doing so. They bankrupted their own Empire. But just like a drunkard, just like the Prodigal Son, they wouldn’t, they couldn’t, stop short. The cliff was there, so over they went, until Rome was a peninsular city once more. It has been estimated that 40%-60% of the money that is ostensibly paid for “defense” actually goes to kickbacks and bribes ... the very things which the Supreme Court (exercising no authority that it actually has) simply “ruled” to be “freedom of speech” instead of what Article 2 Section 4 Word 25 plainly declares it to be. They would have had no reason to do such a thing except to justify the criminal behavior which has besotted all three Branches of our Government. I think that it speaks for itself that they first moved to justify such a patently illegal behavior on the Federal level, then swiftly moved to make a similar declaration concerning the States. Criminals safeguard their own, and they never see it as wrong. The Republican Party, Inc. and the Democratic Party, Inc. currently share exclusive power under two brand-names that differ only in appearance. They are divisions of the same corporation, as is the subsidiary, Tea Party, Inc. They rule by constantly striving to divide the nation against itself, getting the rats in the sack to fight each other while all of them drown. And each of them earn more, much more, in 15 minutes than you will earn in five years. What are they doing for you? For America? Why, nothing, of course. Why should they? “Multi-nationalism” is simply a code word for “no nation”-ism. The one and only thing that the USA is particularly “good for,” to these people’s point of view, is (a) an insatiable willingness to spend money on their military; and (b) a magical money machine that reliably spews out several million US Dollars per second. If you control that, then you stand to make a lot of cash. And to hell with the rest of them. “If they are about to die, then they had better do it ...” And I am quite sure that this is very typical. When King Darius overthrew King Neb, I’m sure that the citizens held open the city gates for him and said, “what took you so long?” |

Go here and read the bid. Ask yourself why the US weather service needs ammo delivered all over the country. The ammo is of a specific hollow point variety which has been outlawed because people have agreed it is inhumane. Daug |

Re:Fed Mob

We can't pretend to act surprised.
The United States is by far the biggest manufacturer (and exporter) of ammunition and military equipment in the world. People in Washington, DC are quite accustomed to “distributing” expenditures all over totally-unrelated budgets in a peculiar effort to conceal them. There are huge profits to be made in war and warmongering. They are not accustomed to being subject to any sort of public scrutiny. But the “alert and knowledgeable citizenry” that Ike spoke of, actually is out there, at least in places ... The hard truth of the matter is that the $216,902,691.00 in “expenditures today” that I quoted earlier is only the tiniest tip of the iceberg. It would not surprise me to find that the US Government was actually spending more than ten times that amount of money every day. All of it, magically, borrowed (sic). This “enemy within” truly is one of the most disastrous threats our country has faced ... just as Rome did, just as Babylon did, just as the Spanish did, indeed just as the British Empire did, and it beat them all. We have met this enemy, and it is us. |

UPDATE, 1:07 p.m.: NOAA spokesman Scott Smullen emailed the following statement, clarifying the ammunition order is for fisheries law enforcement, as we suspected:
Due to a clerical error in the federal business vendor process, a solicitation for ammunition and targets for the NOAA Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement mistakenly identified NOAA’s National Weather Service as the requesting office. The error is being fixed and will soon appear correctly in the electronic federal bidding system. The ammunition is standard issue for many law enforcement agencies and it will be used by 63 NOAA enforcement agents in their twice annual target qualifications and training. NOAA’s Office of Law Enforcement protects fish stocks from depletion and marine mammals from extinction. We also protect the livelihoods of commercial fishers, the hobbies of recreational fishers, and the health of seafood consumers. The Washington Post |

In other words ... “whups, looks like somebody out there actually was watching, so we moved the expenditure somewhere else.”
As I said ... don't blame the Republocrats, and don’t blame the Demoblicans, and above all, don’t act surprised. There are, unfortunately, gobs of money to be made from war and warmongering; it has always been so. Until very recently, it was not possible to follow-up in any meaningful way upon all the shady accounting. If people can get even the slightest glimpse of how unscrupulous and how brazenly criminal the present “accepted” status quo actually is, well, it just might be a tiny start. And if people begin to glimpse that there is in fact no real difference between the two so-called “political parties” that rule the country today, it might be an ever-so slightly bigger start. IMHO, the real lesson to be learned from the Parable of the Prodigal Son is simply this: that he had to hit bottom, and to actually be staring there at a hungry pig (who BTW easily could have killed him), and to actually be just as hungry as that pig was, and to actually be abandoned by all of his friends ... before “the little light finally blinked on.” Everything that the Son did, he did to himself. Had was always his father’s son and he could have turned around and treated himself to a hot shower and clean clothes and an espresso at any time. The destruction that was visited upon him was the self-destruction wrought by his own refusal to admit to himself that he was screwing-up his own life. The moment that he reasserted the prerogatives of his own birthright, that pig became a future lunch. |

Not trying to debunk anything submitted here, as I feel we need to be aware and question everything, however I thought I would just give some perspective on the ammo thing.
A typical citizen shooter who shoots just three sanctioned matches a year (the minimum to keep ones NRA rating current) will typically consume a minimum 80-100 rounds per match. If that individual practices just once for each match, that doubles the ammo requirement. so an individual ordering 1000 round a season is at the low end of the spectrum. Matches typically run one a month from April to about October (not counting qualifying matches or nationals at Camp Perry. This could lead to ammo orders in excess of several thousand a season for a private citizen, never mind law enforcement. When I read the totals mentioned I immediately thought that they were for internal agency security personnel. Based on the fact that they were for 63 individuals, I would not bat an eye if that were true. The rounds mentioned are NOT legally inhumane for law enforcement, private security, personal protection or hunting. Only by the conventions of war. In fact they are in common use for those applications I listed. This of course, is not meant to derail any talk of corruption and abuse of power. We all have seen it as all too prevalent and they are not even making any attempts to hide it. This goes hand in hand with the tactic of making practically every citizen a criminal by making it impossible to know of keep the law (your daughter's lemonaid stand? Don't think the IRS can't make a case against that. No, that's not humor.) |
