2005 Macjammer awards
Friday, December 30 2005 @ 06:59 AM CST

Well here we are folks, on the tail-end of '05. It's time we all put on our thinking caps and select our favorites for this past year.

What a year! A vast majority of us joined in 2005 and made the transition from human to cyber-geek. Since I was already a geek, I didn't have that far to go to add the cyber part. Sleep deprivation helps. Is everyone else sleep deprived too?

Anyway, I digress
I still have to fill my choices, but I have to go to the Motor Vehicle Department because my license plate fell off the front of my car and I want to get there first because it's such a pain the the keister being stuck in such a long line (or que as the Brits say) with a bunch of ticked off, nut-job, Syracusuans.

Note: Please make your choices by noon (United States Eastern Standard Time) Saturday : I want to tally results so by 1 p.m. EST and post them

The categories:
best song
best male vocal performance
best female vocal performance
best instrumental
best instrumental duet
best vocal duet
best loop song instrumental
best loop song with vocal
macjammer of the year
nicest macjammer female
nicest macjammer male
consumate macjammer
brat of the year
composer of the year

If you have another category just add it in

So genres do not matter? It all boils down to loops, non-loops, singing and non-singing?
On a constructive note, I would suggest querying the site database for the songs released since 01.01.05, ordering those by download and limiting the field to the top 200 songs.

Oh, goody, another popularity contest. Here are some catagories I think should be added:

Best MacJammer you've never bothered to listen to
Best MacJammer who's never been "MacJammer of the Week"

I hate all awards contests: the Oscars, the Tonys all of it. It has so little to do with merit. For every great popular artist there are dozens chugging away in anonymity.

Oh, and I forgot the award I'm lobbying to win:

Grumpiest MacJammer.

For your consideration...

Hmm. At the risk of being a big poopy-head, I gotta side with grumpy (ChrisSly.) Such a contest would result in a list of the most popular macjammers (for the most part). If people want to do this, they can go ahead and do it, but I've seen contests on, um, other sites be counterproductive and result in all kinds of hard feelings. Do we REALLY need to know the most popular female macjammer, for example? I'm happy just to talk to different people here and listen to their opinions on things and express mine.

This is just my opinion. Like grumpy, I won't participate, but I'm not going to judge those who do. To each his own! Live and let live.

I dont really see the problem here. It will be cool for those who win, and since that is so few, i cant see why others will get mad.. Were do we place our votes?

Check out my latest song: A future that is carrying your weight

Get your tags, tally up the vote, oop. Here are my choices:

Best Song: "baby makes the day" - tmcfate
Best Male Vocal performance: Cantor - "Uv-khein"
Best Female Performance : Mystified - "Tristezza"
Best Instrumental: "Small Piano Pieces on Two Themes and a Lyric" - rik
Best Instrumental Duet: "Bach Jazz Collab" - John Stebbe, drlaine
Best Vocal Duet: "The Heart Breaks" - Kelli King, Jim Bouchard
MacJammer of the Year: Tobin Mueller
nicest macjammer female: Mystified
nicest macjammer male: Tadashi Togawa
consumate macjammer: Alimar
brat of the year: ledebutant
composer/songwriter of the year: Jim Bouchard

If everyone else just complains about your idea, oop, and no one else votes, I guess my choices are the winners by default? Cool. Absolute power! Mwahahahaha!

I like your style Mr. S. I see you have some competition in the Grumpiest MacJammer, but I'll pull for you. There is something to be said about being the first.
For the record, I've never been a MacJammer of the week, Nor am I popular.
But I do think I'm the best bullshitter here, no question..but because of MacJam's regulation pg.45 paragraph 3, I can't nominate myself for best bullshitter, plus I have a felony criminal record, and have a subpar credit rating and (refer to the opening of this thread) I'm missng a license plate on my car. Bt thanks for the refreshing comment.

Well, you'd lose as the the gumpiest to Mr. S, but Poopy-Head of the Year is wide open. This is a fun thread, no hard feelings here! Popular is an interesting theme. Were the Beatles popular? You betch'a. Did they put out great tunes? That's a big 10-4, good-buddy. So, I suppose you can't have one without the other.
I'm glad you are unjudgemental, I respect that. You are NOT a poopy-head. Sorry, I'll have to pull your nomination.
