Re:Jim Mason's Scientifically Accurate Reviews (CLOSED)

HI Jack Stone, Well I will tell you right out of the bat that this one made me laugh. It has a real %100 authentic garage band sound. Like a jam at 4:00 am after about 30 keystone lights and a bag of weed. Yes, the singing is what we Americans would consider bad but bad in a good way.. Any song that puts a smile on my face is worth something. I have no idea what you are singing about. It sounds like an American Indian after a fire-walking mishap and possibly a hot poker going up the wrong orifice ![]() No bass gives it even more of that garage band sound and the one mic drums doesn't help. The guitars are actually pretty cool. I can dig the droning guitar work. At times you even build some nice intensity between the band members. Lots of clipping in the mics but who really cares ? not me. Light me up another one and get me another keystone: 3 smilies for making me laugh ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Ok Macjammers, I am going to rotate between here and soundclick. I will be back later. When you see that the thread is bumped and open again I will be ready for the next round.

Looking forward to it, I would love to get a song reviewed when you get the chance.

Yeah, I guess I'm missing the point here. I'll go back to just entering my reviews on the actual songs, rather than in a discussion thread. Victor. -- My CD. Use coupon code "macjams" on BandCamp. |

You could start your own thread "Vic Diesel's warped reviews" that would solve that problem. |

Nah, I'll just comment on the songs. Thanks for pointing me to that Lennon714 song. That was great indeed. Victor. -- My CD. Use coupon code "macjams" on BandCamp. |

Jim- thanks for the review. I appreciate your candor- and it does prove that it's possible to give constructive criticism without making it come across as a personal attack.
Your reviews and comments like those from Vic are great examples of what I'd love to see more of. I'll admit to loving flattery as much as the next person but that doesn't necessarily help one grow. There's room in my world for both. "An honest man's pillow is his peace of mind." John Mellencamp |

Jim, I don't think that's a good solution. There's a space for comments for each song. If this site worked as you propose then there it would be a critics site (hey, here we are all critics that know a couple of things, we like to ask musicians to send us music so we can comment on it) instead of a musicians site (hey, here's our music, you are free to listen, if you like it or something could be better leave a comment). Of course, critics is a very important part of macjams, but with a secondary role and in a peer to peer fashion. In the end if more people become critics first and then musicians we will surely have more posts like this, mainly because macjams is not designed with the 'critics workflow'. BTW, I like the musician's focus of the site. |

Jim, you've done some decent reviews here in this thread. Victor gives some of the best objective and constructive reviews on song pages I have seen on MacJams. Please keep it coming. |
