I hesitantly offer this morsel for mastication and whatever results...if you are going to stick around that is, 'cos you said in 'A good bye' thread that you were going to clear off...or did I miss the dreadful rust coloured stain of irony?

Chris Jarvis

I picked up the ukulele at about 12 years of age and picked up the piano at about the same time. The ukulele is a far smaller instrument and did not give me a hernia.

OK< good just two more to round off the reviews. Yes, I did leave but it was implied that it was only for a night or two. I was just grabbing for attention. I am weak that way

Ok I will count this as a review request. I will just randomly pick a song unless you have one that you would rather me look at.

I can take one more from someone Smile

Wow, that is pretty damn bad . I don't know where to start. The first thing I am met with is a hideous hiss to start the track out, then a horribly compressed drum machine and horribly compressed acoustic guitar. It is hard to tell if any of the instruments are actually in tune because they seem to be all out of tune. I am not even sure how you managed to get them all out of tune but you did. The actual playing is a very exaggerated swing eighth note that sounds like a bunch of white autistic children after drinking a pint of Jack Daniels (not that there is anything wrong with that)

The only thing that is remotely salvageable about this song is that you do play the correct notes and stay with in the appropriate scales for the chord structure. But that isn't enough to save this song. Not many redeeming qualities and not even bad enough to be funny.

Is there any point in talking about the production value or the mix ? No, probably not. I give it 1 smiley out of 5 for keeping the solos on scale:

Smile

well, I just played the first song that was on your page called 'you knew it' I kind of like the groove, it has that loping hippy groove that can put you in a real relaxed mood. Right from the get go there are aspects of the mix that bother me. I don't like the guitar sound for one or the Doctor Who synthesizer sound. I do like the piano sound though, that fits the piece very well IMHO and I like the drums. Back to the guitar, I don't think it is what you are playing it is more the sound and how it is mixed. I think I would have put it lower in the mix and and moved it off to the left a little bit and removed some of the bass from the tone. It interferes to much with the synthesizer's low notes and makes everything to cluttered for a song that should really breathe more. You also clip the signal on the guitar when you get excited.

Although the vocals are good and inventive they could use a little beefing up possibly with a very slight delay effect and brought up a couple DB in the mix.

I don't mind the laziness of the piece. it has a pseudo Grateful Dead sound and the mood reminds me a bit of some early Pink Floyd's pieces but I think I would have liked to hear the mix breathe a little more. Addition by subtraction.

Nice mood and inventiveness in the vocals give it 3 smileys out of 5
