The guidelines: A random pairing of artist/producer (this is a challenge after all). DAW issues will be worked out as best they can. Example: If I am working with someone who does not use GB or Logic then the artist will send MP3 or AIF files and we will work from there. This is not a "let's be perfect" challenge it is about learning what can be done from various fields of play. The producers main job will be not to "re define" the artist but to enhance the work of the artist. However .... if an artist says "Give me a total make over" then that is also in the scope of work. It will be important for the producer to do a little ground work to understand the artist and their work. Random pairing will happen on Dec. 1st, 2010 and challenge deadline will be Feb 1st 2011. The "artist" will have final say in the track they want the "producer" to work on. Chosen tracks to work on need to be posted (if not already) at the same time of the deadline for the finished "produced" track. A detail from the artist and producer on their process would be included on the final track.

I finished my producer's bit with Tokai the day after it was announced what the pairings were! Producing someone else's music seems a lot easier for some reason. Probably because my head isn't so wrapped up in the song itself so I can hear what the song needs better.

VicDiesel is doing a complete makeover on dimm witness ;-) I feel bad for him he is working with a stubborn recalcitrant "musician" with little in the way of diversity (or skills)

I am learning A LOT in the meantime. the finished product will be amazing colossal stupendous I wonder what it will sound like??
