Headphone skins
Monday, March 28 2011 @ 08:00 PM CDT

Does anyone have any ideas of a good place to order new headphone skins from?

I have a pair of Sony's that I love, but the skins are all deteriorated, and a little nasty.
I've looked at sony.com, and searched via the standard search engines, but no dice.
Every person I've asked looks at me like I'm crazy.

What do you mean by 'skins'? A lot of the Sonys offer replacement ear pads.....

Hi Ed - I've just been calling them the wrong thing all my life, which has contributed to not being able to find replacements! I looked up 'replacement ear pads' and that sir, is exactly what i want.

Thanks!!!

I know who I am and you know who you are, but who and the hell do they think they are?

you know I have a nice set of phones, and the earpads have started to disintegrate. every time I take them off, my wife asks "what's that black crap all over your head?" i blame it on the fact that I've gotten to the point where I have to wear reading glasses while working at the computer.

never thought to replace the pads.

Sony phones seem to particularly like to shed little flecks of black vinyl....

And Grado phones have foam that sort of disintegrates over a long time....

Thankfully both of them make replacement pads, and there are also other manufacturers who make replacement pads....

By the way, Mr. Moped, I finally clicked on your icon photo and got to see the whole thing.... What a neat picture!....

I have a pair of Sony's that I let flake away. All that's left is foam. They work fine and not only have they stopped shedding, I also saved 20 bucks. Next I'm upgrading to a set of KRKs.
