Bali Music Project
Saturday, April 02 2011 @ 03:36 AM CDT
Hi all. It's been a very long time since I was here but it's the first place I thought of with the following project in mind.
Myself and my bassist friend are looking for musicians to collaborate in a musical project. The plan is to move to Bali mid June for 1-2 months, rent a house and write, play and record music. Dates and precise location are not set in stone until accommodation is sorted. Aim To record what comes and maybe have something to show, perhaps a website showcasing recordings at the end. Its more about the musical journey rather than the destination. Music We both listen to and play rock mostly but we are totally up to anything else bar country, Rap or Bieber (it's now a genre don't you know). I write the songs mostly and its fine tuned from there but if you can write too that is encouraged. You can hear some of my old tunes on this site or you can visit gavsgarage.com for a bit more of an idea though that site has mostly covers on it at the moment. Ideally we would like a percussionist of some sort and perhaps another guitarist. Anything you think you can contribute is most welcome. No instrument is excluded. Location As mentioned above the location will probably be Bali so that's what we are aiming for. The planned accommodation will be near the beach and hopefully detached with 2-3 bedrooms. Being detached will be ideal as we don't want to be watching nose levels for neighbors etc. Cost It's difficult to say right now as we are still researching it. Accommodation will be something like 150AUD a week pp, food about the same if you are eating out all the time (which we won't be) and booze is priced similarly to Oz so that's up to you. So we reckon we can live comfortable on about 300 AUD a week. Once we have the house sorted we will have a more accurate budget. Lifestyles We are both pretty easy going. We both smoke but mostly socially with a few beers and outdoors only. We can both cook and probably will now and again. However, it is cheap to eat out in Bali so it won't be a necessity. Most rental houses come with a daily cleaner included in the rent so we wont have to share cleaning etc. Equipment We have two Macbook Pros to work with, a pre amp and a decent condenser mic to work with but other equipment is probably needed. We can pool what we have. Drums may be hired there, we can look into that if need be. How many people? Well, for now we are looking for two more people to join us but depending on accommodation it could be up to 4. We are looking at 6 weeks give or take. but if someone wants to drop in and collaborate for a week that's cool too. Obviously 6 weeks is a big ask at such notice so if we end up having 15 people collaborating and staying at different points then that's cool too. Lastly, we are obviously looking for genuinely interested people. We really don't want people dropping out at the last minute or half hearted about coming. You can reply on this thread or send me a message. Thanks for reading. Gav |

This sounds great!
I'm tempted to do a "John Darwin" and join you.... Annoyingly life is in the way ![]() I've checked your stuff and it's great. No doubt you'll get some fantastic stuff out of it. Good luck. |

Yeah, it should be fun. Thanks for the compliment Ted. It will surely make it much better with more people. If you know of anyone else who would be interested plase do pass it on. Thanks.
