organize your songlist
Saturday, August 02 2008 @ 01:26 PM CDT
Here is a way to organize songlists into albums, using some javascript code that allows you to reorganize your songlist table.
Take a look at my profile page for an example. I've noticed a number of artists using this method: if you look around you can find other examples of ways of using it. It has been tested on Safari, Firefox, and IE. Let me know of issues on other browsers. It is a new way to let you control the formatting of your songlist on your profile page. All you do is add some text to the end of your Bio section of your Account Information. Here is an example:
caution: I put a space after each < so it would look OK here. But when you use it, don't include that space! Of course, you should use the numbers of your own songs, not the ones shown here. You can also embed your own album art like this:
image gives you 100 pixels of space for your album art, so the art should have a height of 100 pixels. You can adjust the space using imageheight is for the image height, and imagewidth for the width. If they are all the same size, you only have to set it once.
You can add other people's songs to your songlist like this:
songtitle and songartist are completely optional - play with it, and you'll soon see what they do. If you are using Doofy's please_comment feature to highlight your best song(s), you might want to change how it looks inside your album list. Just find this in your Bio:
and change it to this:
Have fun!!! |

Bill,
IE7 on Win XP Pro here... I see pictures on your home page, representing albums. Click on one, it takes you to a song page, with a list (links) of songs in there, or back to the home page. Is that what I should see? . - Harold |

Yes! That's what I'm dreaming about. Send me that code! Send it to admin, too. Bravo!

Scroll down further. The song list has headers in it. Looks cool. Victor. -- My CD. Use coupon code "macjams" on BandCamp. |

Hi Bill. Very cool stuff. In Camino, the album covers appear, as do the headers in your songs list. However, when I click on an album cover I am taken to one of the songs from the album. Is that what's supposed to happen? Nicely done.
Peace |

Details on how your Song List can be organized. You can create albums and place your songs into the albums in any order you wish.
Add this to the bottom of your bio: < span id="albums" title=" album Hearing Colors songs 42823 42833 42840 42856 42858 42859 42860 album 32 Degrees of Freedom songs 40317 40990 41657 39048 40509 42580 39272 40786 ">< /span>< script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="http://home.comcast.net/~t129wojce647/mjAlbums.js">< /script> NB *** I put a space after each < so it would look OK here. But when you use it, don't include that space! *** NB *** This is not for MacJams Beta. It is harmless there, but it does nothing. *** |

Those album covers are an old hack. They do take you to the first song on each one. The headers in the table are new. I'm looking into adding the cover art in the table. That's not done yet. UPDATE: cover art is supported. details are given later in this thread |

OH MY GOSH, BILL! I think this is also the hack a lot of us have been looking for to get collaborations into our main song lists. If all we have to do is use the song number to get the song placed into an album, it should work to pull collabs located on other artist's pages in there as well, right?
