I've been wondering since I was a kid what the name of that song was. Thank you! |

It's always nice when the people you're debating with reinforce your point. Uh, yeah, songs without words, is exactly that. It sounds like a song that has had the words taken out, or it actually is a song that has had the words taken out. In my classical piano heyday, for example, I played most of Felix Mendelssohn's pieces collectively entitled "Songs Without Words". They were called that because they all had beautiful, clearly discernable signature melodies and structure to them, but at the same time, had no words. In this context, which you are suggesting, many of the instrumental selections on macjams would hardly qualify.

I try to find a sweet balance between the number of vocal tracks versus instrumentals. I have 14 tracks up and five of them are vocal tracks and the rest are instrumentals. If it's going to be an instrumental I need to hear someone playing an instrument or actually creating the sound via the pencil tool. I usually pass over songs that are loops. I personally don't want to hear a sample that a computer created and some human just slapped together. That's not music to me. I have been tricked before in the past only if it is done really well.
For instance I am releasing a CD soon with 8 tracks and three of them are vocal tracks but inter mixed in are some sweet instrumentals with the guitar acting as the vocal. I like both just the same. I am a sucker for a good melody whether it be vocal or an instrument? |

I guess you would have to acquire fine taste and appreciation for others' efforts in order to fully appreciate anything that falls outside of the closed, claustrophobic and BIZARRE 63 inch diameter planet 'Chadspace' to enjoy this without having to kneel at and heave into your porcelain god. |

I am pretty new here but I tend to judge each song on its own, ie, some I will not like or some I think are great. I know some people cannot play a lick of music on any instrument but can create a wonderful song and post it here. I have been listening to the songs posted and I try see what I can learn from each one good or bad. I know I was not too terribly happy with my first effort but a great many people have encouraged me with tips and tricks and of course great songs. I currently tend to lean toward instrumentals, but that is me right now at this time, I know one day I will add vocals to my music. Just my humble opion of course.
