Oh my gosh! LIOLI Day is also Official Talk like a Pirate Day! How appropriate.

Shiver me timbers laddies - another challenge is it? Time to hoist a a few and get to cookin' up a tune with a mighty hook. I'll be seein' you all at journeys end. May the wind be at yer back and the devil before ye!

Here's some more info we may need for this new LIOLI.

Whew! Some of those loops need a lot of help.

Bring me one noggin of rum, now, won't you, matey.

I'm digging the loop choices - corny as they are. I'm thinking my Pirate might be a Debussy guy - you know - La Mer and all that.

This is a neat plan. I thought the songs gave a good wide range of musical ideas for people to pick from. However, I guess I'm a LIOLI purist because for me personally this one is too wide open. Something about being forced to contend with one loop and one loop only focused my creativity in a particular way. Being able to do anything with these songs -- even use parts of other ones -- is too much like opening GB to that My Song "blank page" for me.

However, like I said to whoever is running this (yes, I'm dumb), I totally understand that people may be more interested in moving on from the original rules and having more to play with. That's great. I'm sure LIOLI6 will result in a lot of great songs. I wish everyone luck and a good time in making them!

I'm having trouble downloading from the loop site. Help! Am I supposed to use one of those transloader deals? They're not opening for me. I've tried apple/click - option/click - and control/click.

Oops - it actually worked with control/click. No problem. Dropped into GB and it opened as tracks.
Now - which one do I use?

Yarr, control-click should open up a pop up menu, and choose "Download Linked File"
You can use all the tracks that show up in GarageBand, or only a few.

Remember that your audience needs to be able to recognize which song you started from, so tossing out the main theme would probably not be a good idea. But changing how it sounds is OK, and you only need to quote it long enough for your listener to recognize it. Then you can embellish the heck out of it to create a really good tune.
