Re:Perfection?

I too have had lots of experience with mac and pc. Mac is fewer headaches to be sure but by no means perfect. As far as hard disks go, the old hard disks (SCSI format) lasted a very long time. unfortunately SATA/ATA/IDE drives etc. are much cheaper but also MUCH less hardy and reliable. So often the HD is the problem. They can fail in a year and a half commonly so back yo stuff up!

I've been banned from many forums for participating in these OS flame wars and yes I am a self proclaimed Mac Cultist, but I love this community and its brilliant users to get too political over some petty argumetn so i'll leave it at this. No operating system is infallible. Use what operating system you feel suits your needs. When you say "I thought Macs were infallible" you are subscribing to a culture that actively seeks to find weakness in competition due to their own insecurity and I'm not implying that, that behavior is only reserved to PC users but Mac user as well who find the need to reinforce their OS of choice by belittling other OSes By starting this thread you only contribute to an on going bitter rivalry that has been here since PC's and Apple's existence and will be here long after we are gone. I think you will find that most people here have little concern for such issues and are generally pleasant and open minded. There are PC users here too and we all get along just fine and that's why I love this community. |

You're very defensive. None of what I said was a personal attack on you. there must of been some sort of loss of translation.
That's a myth. Time in and time out there have been various forums and threads who have pinned PC hardware (Dell/HP/etc) spec'd to an exact mod list of an Apple computer and have come up with the exact price. Every company has problems with their HARDWARE it isn't isolated to just Apple or Dell or HP. Also your condescending tone is reminiscent of the arrogance that a lot of PC user stereotype Mac user's for being guilty of.
Point taken and I'll leave you be in your world where a little retort is mistaken as some sort of attack on the type of products you enjoy. |

LOL... Not even gonna weigh in on this... Especially after Dell charged me close to $400 to replace a video card in a high powered laptop that was less than 9 months old and was under Dell's expensive care plan. Their reason for the charge was that the vendor of the card caused the problem. Not Dell. My MBP needed a new screen and was under apple care. Called 'em up... Next day new screen was installed and working. Zero cost. One day service. Hey I said I wasn't gonna weight in on this... Oh well... |

I remember in the fourth grade, a group of us kids were looking at a monster magazine that had this image on the cover:
![]() The big argument was all about who was stronger: Frankenstein or the Wolfman? I was in the minority in my opinion that it was the Wolfman until I turned the magazine cover in another direction: ![]() The moral of this childhood anecdote is: It all depends how you look at it. I've been using mac computers and other various mac products since the mid 90s, and have never had any major issues. Well built, well designed and well thought out. Mac products always work for me and have never let me down.
