Who loves Elliott Smith?
Friday, July 13 2007 @ 06:32 AM CDT
Hi Everyone,
I'm a great Elliott Smith fan and I am very much influenced by him(lyrically and somewhat musically). Sometimes, some of you remind me of him either musically and/or lyrically, but I never find out if you know who I'm talking about. He was not incredibly famous, but well-known. For example, he did the sound track for Good Will Hunting. Sadly, all my great musical influences are dead J.Lennon, Harry Nilsson and E.Smith. But, I hope to keep their musical spirits alive. So, if you like or you're influenced by E.Smith, I'd really like to check your stuff out. Also, I like to know what your favorite E.Smith song is. BTW, I'll be on vacation for the next 3 weeks back home in the S.F. Bay Area, mostly in Los Gatos and Santa Cruz. Any Macjammers interested in getting together for a beer can e-mail me at dkarmbruster@web.de Have a lucky Friday the 13th Dave |

...
i don't know if i'm influenced by Elliot Smith, as his music was mostly prevalent later in my life and i'd already been performing and writing for years. because we were close in age and our musical tastes similar, i found it very easy to become a fan of Elliot Smith's music. Either/Or should be in everyone's music library, if it isn't already! Elliot Smith was a welcomed delight for folks like me who were craving the next coming of Nick Drake. Smith is a suitable heir for Drake's throne. i was a bit crushed when Smith died. it's just so sad to see such talent cease (see Stevie Ray Vaughn, Cobain, Shannon Noon, Drake, etc.). feel free to browse my Folk songs... you may find them to your liking. or not! hehe thanks and be well! ![]() ... Yep!
Color Bars is my favorite. It's "god-like" in my fantasy rating system.

My favourite is "I Better Be Quiet Now". Super track.
You won't find any ES influences in the music I've posted but it would still give me great pleasure to read some comments from you. So, please, dive in. :O) |

Elliot Smith is it. Can't say my stuff sounds like him, but every time I put on a ES record I have an uncontrollable urge to pick up the guitar and begin recording. He was just such a genius and so prolific. Also an incredible guitar player. Favorite: Independence Day.

My favorite song in the whole world is Waltz #2 (XO). I can't say that I'm influenced by him, but I do LOVE his music. (Lisa)
