I have nothing against anyone making music with loops or Magic GB. They are great tools that I have used myself. I do not consider myself a musician , just a hobbyist that loves music
like many here. What set a fire under me was Dee was asked several times in comments " Is this you on harp, or is it loops. I tried to contact her by E-mail but it was disabled. I'm truly sorry if I caused hurt feelings to her or anyone else. NOW ON WITH THE SHOW,, WE HAVE MUSIC TO MAKE!

Well the show never stopped I can multi-task, and to clarify, my statements had nothing to do with your and Dee's situation, but just the generalization of what is music, or what is a musician blah blah blah. Also to the idea that details must be disclosed, I disagree and here's why. I remember in College in a writing class I was taking, the Proffesor was always trying to tell us what the Author of the passage meant for us to take from his/her work. A lot of times this was without any knowledge from the writer. I began to argue that there was know definite way to know for sure and that the writer probably intended it that way. I know when I write I think sometimes from different views (music included)but mainly I'm satisfied with you getting whatever you got from it. Musically I work hard on my own sound, and don't necessarily want a bunch of replicas developing afterwards (which does happen). Having said that I never mind helping someone grow in their own style, meaning if you have a question of how I did something that you've been trying to do I most likely will help you. But here's my point if I'm able to take you to the mountain top (pun intended)to enjoy my view, would you then want to turn and take your eyes off the view and be more concerned about the vehicle that got you there? If so why? Or would you just enjoy the view for long as you can, because to me it doesn't really matter how you got me there but as long as I arrive Big Grin

What if I wanted to go back someday by myself to this lovely mountain view & you would not share with me how we got there. There are many here that share lots of knowledge.

I hope the fire is out..... As far as I'm concerned it is.

Your path to the mountain top should be your own it's always more enjoyable that way. Plus you should want your own mountain view instead of sharing mine all the time or me leading or giving you the map. A great enjoyment of how I got to my mountain top is the struggles and lessons I learned along the way priceless in my book. Coming from a guy who wants it to be like the old school I would think you would like to earn your mountain then it be given to you Wink Also I never said there was anything wrong with sharing knowledge I give out plenty of info in the forums on many subjects. peace

Hi. I didn't question use of any of those things you mentioned as a requirement for being a musician.. I question the question as not being worthy of a question..In otherwords I am suspect that the so called question of wether if you use samples, loops or MagicGB it qualifies one as a musician,is even a valid question...I've all ways wanted to use the word question five times in a theoretical paragraph (or fictional one)..J

Hi..Yes loops, samples, whatever are all fairgame..I think the most important thing that I find is..The Question..Does it qualify one as a musician...I do have a problem with that..It has never been answered in the past or at present and I will speculate openly the future..My reckoning on why is that the questio itsel has no depth weight or substance there fore it does not exist or stand as a valid question..Thus my belief it will never be answered...Just the way I view it at present...J

Ahh the beauty(magic)of the quote button. You actually did question it and then expressed your problem with it... You then question the validity of your question because it has never been answered, well now it has Big Grin

That's right Moses the quote button..Read it again..The very quote you posted asks the same question..Of the question...Perhaps I'm not great at punctuation and the like, but you are mis-reading my post is the problem..J

Perhaps quotation marks were needed around "The Question"

I'm surprised we haven't had any Magic GB competitions .........

24. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1924. That means it only took 50 years for men to realize that their brain is also important.
