If there is no God, then there is no reason to get upset about the suffering in the world, it's just the way things are, get over it.
So the only thing an atheist can to say to the mother of a dying child is "sorry, that's just your bad luck." The atheist is not exempt from giving an answer to the problem of evil. The answers Jesus gives to the core questions in life make more sense than anything Dawkins has proposed. And He offers hope, something a materialist cannot do. who the...? what the...? |

What have God with the suffering to do? I thought that was all the wrong the capitalism (materialist) do!! (like you and me) Did you know that all the resources we use from earth JUST consuming by 20% of the worlds people, and did you know that 1'5 billion people live with earth and not of the earth like you and me, they still live like we did for 6 thousand year ago, hove old are the bible...... "The Bible was written over a period of 1400 to 1800 years by more than 40 different authors." "The first five books of the Old Testament (known as the Pentateuch or Torah) was written by Moses during the forty years that the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness (1450 - 1410 B.C.)." So should I believe in something who over 40 authors has written? And you also say (So the only thing an atheist can to say to the mother of a dying child is "sorry, that's just your bad luck.") ... Oh man WOW... And you also say (And He offers hope, something a materialist cannot do.) so if hope can safe my dying child please give her hope, no that I can't buy, I'll think I have to trust the Doctor and the material he use, that's the only hope I have... And so it goes.... A man who have faced the light but get back to the body, me, Kenta. I Almost Always Try to Think Positive Thoughts. |

hello my fine Viking friend, there is plenty of suffering even apart from capitalism. Capitalism in itself isn't an evil thing, the misuse of it is, getting money as your bottom line reason for living will always lead to no good, but earning money and being successful aren't evil things. I was using the word "materialist" with the definition of someone who believes that matter is the only reality, and that everything including thought , will and feeling can be explained only in terms of matter. I think that having 40 different people from many different walks of life over a period of 1400 - 1800 years about an extremely controversial subject like God, and still having agreement with each other is testimony to the truth of the book. So yes, I do think you should believe it. I think it makes sense of the world as we see it. It has the best explaination for why it is the way it is. Are there things in it that are hard to understand? Yep. But the essential things are very straightforward. The hope offered is that death is not the end, that there is something more and better on the other side of the grave. who the...? what the...? |
