What a hoot, Richard! Ah the memories. There was a lot of excitement about the possibilities of MJ percolating back then... and not to mention the over-blown dreams of some of us ;-) me for one, heheh. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

my old pagehttp://web.archive.org/web/20060526152225/http://www.macjams.com/artist/dimm+witness

going back through the archive brought back memories! I didn't have a Mac that could run GB for several years after it came out. I knew nothing of loops and couldn't figure out midi. so GB was a frustrating place for me.

I forgot my password for years. I tend not to logout anymore in case I forget again lol

anyway to me using loops and midi seemed disingenuous -- like cheating or something. I liked playing everything fo reals in deck. deck want listed as an option and there wasn't a psych category yet so I felt left out. also I think to be involved in certain things you had to use GB.

nowadays I'm familiar with GB and I've been using it a few years. maybe it's just me but I still don't care for loops -- except maybe drums. I have to admit the midi sounds are great ;-)

but is it just me or is GB weak in the sound dept? I like my old stuff with deck better. and I've started in on adobe audition beta and it is so clean and pure sounding. is it because GB is 16 bit instead of 32? or what is it? maybe I still just don't know how to optimize sounds in GB.

just thinking out loud here. glad I came back and stayed around.
