the TAL synth is pretty good. i did have some problems with it not clearing previous state when replaying - the delay and reverb tails would still be there! the first note of a portamento synth seemed to start at a very very low note on the first use, but after that it seemed to start at whatever was played last, even during replays. i accidentally hit that issue, and ended up using it as a "feature" in my song.

overall, the sound is a bit harsh, and since we couldn't use additional EQ i just let it go...

on the plus side, there are tons of presets which provide a great launching point to make your own sounds!

this challenge was a riot to do.

Sometimes the synth would be making noise at the start of a track even though there were no notes. I hope none of that is in my submission.

Fun exercise all the same.

Victor.

The tal is a wicked synth with a heart of darkness. Amazed Vic got it to behave so sweetly and Smokey made it playful. Both excellent submissions. I just gave into the machine and embraced it's cold soul.
Cool challenge - one I'd do again in a minute.
Thanks.

i had done a song a while ago using only Crystal synth. it was a real compute hog. i had to lock tracks to complete it.

but the TAL did not burn up computes nearly as bad. at 44 tracks, the cursor only turned slightly orange if something else like Time Machine was running...
