Train wreck

It's like you can't quit listening because it's the train wreck of music.

WARNING: DO NOT HIT THE PLAY BUTTON!

I don't know, Mike. This sounds a lot like one of my tunes before I tweak it up with Ozone 3. Maybe that's all they needed.

My music is much better than it sounds.

Interestingly, some don't see them as a train wreck.

Just a short extract from the Wiki about them written by Cub Koda (look him up). I can't tell if this was tongue in cheek or not.

"There's an innocence to these songs and their performances that's both charming and unsettling. Hacked-at drumbeats, whacked-around chords, songs that seem to have little or no meter to them ... being played on out-of-tune, pawn-shop-quality guitars all converge, creating dissonance and beauty, chaos and tranquility, causing any listener coming to this music to rearrange any pre-existing notions about the relationships between talent, originality, and ability. There is no album you might own that sounds remotely like this one."

Ah, the Shags, Daddy's favorite band. Kinda remind ya of the Rolling Stones huh?
This group appeared at the end of the 60's girl group era, not a bar band, and they didn't play at Raves either, yet the girls served up the goods, they might be anti-pops strongest corrosive agents... they were born to suite their father's dream life. Not so odd really.

I suspect Cubby was Smokin' in the Boys' Room when he wrote that, Dick. Wink

I not only own the LP, but the band I was with the the '80's recorded a cover of "Foot Foot" one evening in the basement studio. Only an 18-second fragment of that remains (and shows up in rotation on my iPod) as the original cassette tape had been partially eaten by a crazed tape deck.

The Shaggs' music is actually quite fascinating to listen to.

Yeah… It is interesting all right…

It is unpolished. The guitars are out of tune with themselves. The drumming is idiosyncratic. The Wiki says there seems to be little or no meter… You either have meter, or you don't; you can't have a little metre. In this case, there is certainly a meter, but either it changes every bar or it was conceived of in a bar.

And yet…

It's definitely interesting…
