Blue Jays Are Back!

Not much of a sports guy, but I do follow my beloved Toronto Blue Jays. A few years ago, they dumped their colours and logo for some weird silver and black stuff, and rebranded themselves as the Jays. Ehh? Guys! Guys! Guys! C'mere, more briefing!

Personally, I hate it when a team changes their colours and logo to 'excite' the fans. It rarely works; in fact, they usually come across like an entry-level expansion outfit. It's hard to get cranked up over a team when you have no idea who they are anymore.

But this year, the Birds went back to their roots with uniforms and logos that reflect who they were when they stepped out onto Exhibition Stadium in 1977 (and, ahem, won two World Series championships in '92 and '93) and, hey... they look great. My guys are back!

To celebrate, here's "We Got The Blue Jays", an insanely catchy tune recorded in 1995 and virtually lost for all time - it wasn't an 'official' song in any way, but simply a fan-based production that was sold around Toronto for a while on 45 rpm records. Fortunately, somebody posted a recording on YouTube - a baseball song this cool simply shouldn't be forgotten.

Roger Clyne of the Refreshments and Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers did ours. It's kind of hokey, but I love it.
