years ago when i was living in my first apartment i converted my mic stand into an adjustable floor lamp. at the time i needed a lamp much more than i needed a mic stand.

over the years it followed me around. my trusty lamp.

a couple of years ago, i needed a mic stand more than floor lamp, so i converted it back. it still works great.

I think an omnidirectional would work best for that. Perhaps the old standby SM58.
